Power Management Speedways

Simple Switch to SWIFT

This Speedway will provide you the basics needed for power management designs. Starting with the easiest shunt regulator over linear voltage regulators up to switching regulators with different topologies, you will get an understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of different designs. In the hands-on session, you will be trained on Switcher PRO, which is the power management design software from TI. You will exercise different cases and at the end you will be able to design your own solution supported by the trainers.

Design a Flyback Converter

This Speedway is offering a deep look into the design of a high reliable fly back converter using standardized power over Ethernet devices. You will get an overview of the design rules and requirements. You will receive a fly back reference design based on TI's TPS23750, and you will perform measurements like efficiency, ripple and transient response on it. All the measurement equipment and boards are provided by Silica.

Attendees are entitled to order the TPS23750 reference design free of charge.

Powering CPUs and FPGAs

This Speedway will give you an overview about all the design steps from the selection of the control device, the requirements of passive devices, the layout considerations and the measurement of the efficiency. You will receive a complete dual output system supply board and on this board you will perform measurements like efficiency, output ripple, transient response and so on. All the measurement equipment and boards are provided by Silica.

Attendees are entitled to order the dual output system power supply board free of charge.

Replace DC/DC Modules

The IR Speedway will look in detail on where the losses of a power supply will occur. You will get an impression how the topologies, the active and passive components and the lay-out will influence your design. As a conclusion, we will look at the trade off between efficiency, size and performance.

Using a synchronous buck reference design from IR, you will measure the efficiency under different output leads. You will also look at the gate signals and the dead time between the high and the low side switch. With different measurements, you will learn more about the regulation look. All the measurement equipment and boards are provided by Silica.

Attendees are entitled to order the synchronous reference design free of charge.
