The NCP1080 and NCP1081 advanced Power over Ethernet Powered Devices (PoE-PD) provide a robust, flexible and highly integrated solution targeting demanding Ethernet applications. They combine, in a single unit, an enhanced PoE-PD interface and a configurable dc-dc converter controller.
The NCP1080 is a IEEE 802.3af compliant part that serves the 13 W segment of the market.
The flagship product NCP1081 is a high-power PoE+ device which supports the most recent IEEE 802.3at (Draft 3.0) spec at 25 W. This part was actually designed to support even higher power proprietary applications that need up to 40 W. The unique high power features leverage the significant cost advantages of PoE-enabled systems to a much broader spectrum of products in emerging markets such as IEEE802.11n WLAN AP, high end VoIP Phones, PTZ and Dome IP cameras, Industrial Ethernet applications, RFID stations, notebooks, etc.
Both devices are pin compatible and fabricated in a robust, rugged high voltage process suitable for the most demanding environments and capable of withstanding harsh environments such as hot swap, surge and cable ESD events.
