The LPC1311/13/42/43 is a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M3 microcontroller with up to 32 kB flash, 8 kB SRAM and USB. It operates at CPU frequencies of up to 72 MHz. The ARM Cortex-M3 CPU incorporates a 3-stage pipeline and uses a Harvard architecture with separate local instruction and data buses as well as a third bus for peripherals. The ARM Cortex-M3 CPU also includes an internal prefetch unit that supports speculative branching.

The LPC178x/7x add a specialized flash memory accelerator to accomplish optimal performance when executing code from flash. The LPC178x/7x is targeted to operate at up to 120 MHz CPU frequency.
