Freescale provides a large, scalable portfolio with benchmark pricing. Designers can chose from small ultra-low cost RS08 solutions starting at $ 0.25 for high volume, with as little as 1 kB Flash in ultra-small 6-pin DFN packages up through to highly integrated 128 kB Flash based S08 microcontrollers in 100-pin packages running up to 50 MHz CPU/25 MHz bus speed. Across the portfolio solutions are focused on USB, Motor Control, Segment LCD and Low Power. Freescale's microcontrollers are combined with simple, easy to you hardware development kits for fast and simple evaluation. From a software standpoint Freescale offers the CodeWarrior Integrated Development Environment IDE.

The award winning CodeWarrior IDE has long been a key component of Freescale microcontroller enablement portfolio. However Freescale has taken the step of making the Special Edition version of it’s CodeWarrior IDE, for Microcontrollers, free to use for all of it’s 8bit products with up to 64KB Flash memory. 95% off all 8bit based designs use less than 64KB of compiled code. Effectively this means that most designers can now harness a very powerful and advance development platform with their 8bit design and this brings several advantages.

Freescale Tower enables rapid & flexible hardware development

Freescales Tower development platform provides a fast and flexible way to evaluate and develop end applications. It provides a range of different modules with different features and capabilities that are fully interchangeable. A new addition to the Tower system is the 8-bit TWR-UNIVS08 which enables developers to evaluate multiple 8bit MCUs on a single piece of hardware quickly enabling them to select the right platform to meet their needs.
