In January 1999 Infineon (formerly Siemens Semiconductors) and Osram formed the joint venture, Osram Opto Semiconductors. OSRAM Opto Semiconductors provides new solutions for future LED applications (e.g., fully-configured boards with LED, or ready-to-use modules as an alternative to traditional light sources), including electronics. OSRAM is one of the three leading lamp manufacturers in the world.
