SH7137F - 32-bit MCU with 256Kbyte ultra-fast MONOS Flash

Renesas Technology Europe has further expanded its high performance SH family by introducing the SH7137F device to its SH2 range. The device has 256Kbyte ultra-fast MONOS Flash (12.5ns!), which enables 100% deterministic behavior. This is because the Flash lets the 80MHz operating frequency run without wait states and therefore does not need a cache which can cause cache-miss latencies. The peripherals include a double 12-bit fast (1.25us) ADC, two powerful timer units and CAN/IIC/SPI/SCI. A data-transfer controller (DTC) relieves the strain on the CPU and can flexibly serve all peripherals like a DMA. The SH7137F has an 8-bit external data bus for connecting external ASICs or peripherals, such as an Ethernet NIC.

 

Its computing performance is over 100 Dhrystone MIPS. The MTU2/MTU2S timer pair is designed for motor control and enables the SH7137F to even drive two motors. This is also supported by the corresponding AD converters, which are actually two independent units, each with 3 S&H, 12-bit resolution and 1.25µs conversion time. The MTU2 only uses a third of its channels for the 3-phase PWM and features sophisticated dead-time management and emergency shutdown; it also understands quadrature encoder signals.
